Visconti Red Urushi Limited Edition fountain pen

A very rare red Urushi Limited Edition fountain pen by Visconti.

This one has been used however is in very good condition and perfect working order with its box and certificate

In 1989 Visconti introduced a line of pens in Japanese lacquer. Thery were called Urushi and the production of these pieces was commissioned to the famous artist and lacquer Master Kabouragi.

The original plan was a production of 100 pens per year in black lacquer and in red lacquer. A few green pieces are known but they were never part of the line of production. Unfortunately the production came soon to a sudden end because of Kabouragi’s death and the Urushi project was never completed. Only 91 pieces were produced and this one is number 65

Visconti Urushi pens nowadays extremely rare.

Visconti’s Urushi is a very generous pen which replicates the most traditional Japanese design of large topedo-shaped pens. Its beauty is essential and clean with the only decoration of the clip and of a plain cap band with the serial number of each pen.

The nibs Visconti used for the Urushi line were part of a vintage 14 ct “warranted” stock, the nib appears to be a F= fine in size and has a good flex to it

Each pen came in a Visconti box with a certificate of autenticity

The pen is a eyedropper filler ( eyedropper not included )
